With a passion for children and baseball, JC Dykes, every season for over ten years, groomed what areas were available in Seale so that by April the players could take the field. He used his own equipment or what he could borrow from the community, often working well past sunset. JC was known for coaching the young and the young at heart, not just in baseball but  in life. He would introduce himself with his name and a piece of Double-Bubble gum and always sought out those at the game who looked like they were having a difficult inning. JC went to the Big Leagues in July 2011 after a long battle with cancer. Russell County dedicated the newly built  T-ball/coach-pitch field to him on Opening Day in 2008.
